Our Odyssey

2025

A Symphony of Partnerships

A landmark year. Musicmuni partners with Asianet's Star Singer (Accura), Hariharan Music Academy (Calibra), Universal Music Group (a new co-branded app), Access (in-car apps for European automotive markets), and the Jayalalita Music University.

2022 - 2024

The Remix & B2B Overture

An experiment allowing users to practice with YouTube videos clocks 2 million songs in 12 months. While this feature is later replaced with MP3 uploads due to copyright complexities, it proves the demand. Musicmuni pivots to B2B, launching Voxa and Accura to serve new markets.

2019 - 2022

Global Crescendo

Riyaz expands its library with in-depth Hindustani, Carnatic, and Western classical lessons. As the world goes into lockdown, the app goes viral again, becoming a creative outlet for millions of learners across the globe.

2016 - 2018

The Debut & First Viral Wave

After exploring unfruitful partnerships, the bare-bones Riyaz app—an early version of Calibra—is launched to showcase the technology. It strikes a chord, going viral across India and earning praise from professional singers and aspiring learners alike.

2012 - 2016

Composing the Future

Joining forces with his guide, Prof. Xavier Serra, the duo architect a revolutionary tech stack for self-learning, focusing on complex Eastern singing styles. The project attracts global music tech researchers and industry titans like renowned vocalist TM Krishna.

2011

The Spark of an Idea

Dr. Gopala Krishna Koduri, driven by the lack of access to quality music teachers, envisions using technology to empower anyone to learn singing. His journey begins as a research student at the prestigious Music Technology Group (MTG) in Barcelona.

The Minds Behind the Music

Musicmuni is a spin-off from the pioneering Music Technology Group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona. Our work is built on a foundation of rigorous academic research and a deep passion for music.
